Hip Hop Hangover!

Here is a cute clip magnet I altered. It totally needed a snail to make it complete. I colored Mr. Snail with Bic and Sharpie markers. The background paper is some Basic Gray from my stash. It would be a cute little gift for a teacher or hostess. sure to check out Unity Stamps. They have super cute stamps, and great sales going on. See the Unity Blog for details.
See yesterday's post for more Unity.

Challenge Me!

I created these cards for a couple of stamping challenges.

The first challenge was to use the most recent Unity Stamp Kit you received and stamp with it. I used Whimsical Birthday. It really was a challenge for me since the images in the kit are so large and I am used to smaller images. Here's what I came up with. I used the present and paper pieced it using some dimensionals. The brad I pulled off of a project and it works perfectly. The little metal dots are from the JoAnn $1 section!

The second challenge card had to have a knot on it somewhere and I combined it with the Etsy Inspired Challenge that can be found Saturdays on Ashley's Blog. Here is the soap that inspired me from this weeks featured shop sunbasilgarden (which I see she is now on vacation through June 2 so you can't see her shop until after that date).
Lemon Squares Soap

And my card! This is a 4x4 square card (I have a thing for square cards lately) It uses images from the Aug '08 and April '09 Unity KOTM's. I colored it with Sharpies. The ribbon was something I picked up who knows where.

The heavens declare YOU ARE GOD

Happy Memorial Day! Thank you to our service men and women for keeping us safe. Thank you for sacrificing time with your families to protect mine. We enjoyed some time camping last week in northern Minnesota. I kept singing the chorus to "Song of Love" by Rebecca St. James

Jesus, king of my heart Father,
my peace and my light
Spirits, the joy of my soul You are

Jesus, to You none compare
Father, I rest in your care
Spirit, the hope of my heart You are

Chorus: The Heavens declare You are God
And the mountains rejoice
The Oceans cry "Allelujah"
As we worship You Lord
For this is a song of love

Jesus, You save my soul
I'll thank You forever more
Jesus, the love of my life You are

Chorus: The Heavens declare You are God

And the mountains rejoice
The Oceans cry "Allelujah"
As we worship You Lord
For this is a song of love

Jesus, I am in awe
Of the love that You have shown
Jesus, how precious you are
To me, To me

Chorus: The Heavens declare You are God
And the mountains rejoice
The Oceans cry "Allelujah"
As we worship You Lord
For this is a song of love

The Heavens declare You are God
And the mountains rejoice
The Oceans cry "Allelujah"
As we worship You Lord
As we worship You Lord
For this is a song of love

The words are from Psalm 19
For the director of music. A psalm of David.
1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
2 Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge.
3 There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard.

If you are have been a member of Splitcoaststampers (SCS) from before March 15 of this year, go vote for Shannon! She's in a competition and needs your vote! PM your vote for Mrs. Mac to the user MFT Votes. Voting is only open for 24 hours. GO VOTE!!!!!

And a little Fried Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich inspired card. This was my take on a stamping challenge for VSN (Virtual Stamping Night). It was a busy weekend and I only completed one challenge out of 16. But I still want to complete some of the others. The challenges help to spark creativity. It is interesting to see how each stamper interprets it. I had to use those colors and have a musical theme.

Hip Hop Hangover

Happy Friday! Today I am participating in my first Hip Hop Hangover! I have discovered Unity Stamp Company and I LOVE their designs. They have a Kit of the Month (KOTM) club that is the best deal for stamps out there. I am trying to convince hubby that I need to sign up.

Both of these cards are made from the August '08 KOTM. I had to have it because of this camper. It reminded me of the Scamp. I made this card as a combination challenge card from SplitCoastStampers.

If you are into stamping at all you must check out Hip Hop Thursday. It's a fun day of chatting, challenges, a blog hop full of inspiration by the Unity design team and LOTS of prizes. Here is my card I made for the "Unity is Pretty in Pink...and Purple" challenge.

And if you are at all into blog candy, check out this great candy from Passion for Crafts!

My first challenge card!

I did it! I have now participated in my first stamping challenge! This card was made for the EtsyInspired#35 challenge. More details can be found over at Ashley's blog. The featured Etsy shop is Bealoo Kids. I was drawn to their single animal pictures. The elephant is so cute! So...without further ado, here is my take on it.

I used my Filbert Frog stamp from Whipper Snapper. He was embossed and then colored in with Twinkling h2O's. (I love those things and am sad the company is closing). At the bottom I used a piece of metal accent from Making Memories and some Stampin' Up! grosgrain ribbon. I love how it turned out and how the colors pulled together.
If you want a chance at some blog candy check out Kerry's blog.

A new view!

Here is our front window project. Like our pink blanket curtain? It actually did a good job of blocking the wind. Thankfully it wasn't a rainy weekend, but it was a bit chilly. The best part of the project is that we didn't find any live bare wires loose in the walls like we have every other time we've done a project.
And a view from the inside. Notice that the window is just a double pain window. It didn't open.
After! TaDa! We have a ginormous double-double hung window. It opens so we can get some fresh air! It's about 18 inches wider and 6 inches taller than the old window.

Still using the blanket curtain until the drywall is patched, painted and the trim is up. It needs a good washing and some poly on the wood, hopefully a couple nights this week I can get to that after the girls are in bed so it won't be touched while drying.

A new Sorority

The Whimsical Ink Sorority is new in town. Some super cute stamps and fabulous designers to be inspired by are members. And of course I joined, so you should too!

From the WIS blog
So, you wanna become a sorority sister? Would you also like to win prizes? Then you're in the right place. We've got some special things happening this week. The Whimsical Ink Sorority was founded by Queen Kat Designs. We have elected a very awesome Chapter President Maigan Lynn to head up the art for the Sorority and we have a house filled with special sisters to take the art and turn it into cards, scrapbook pages and things!

Victoria Case Blog Candy!

check it out here! Doesn't it look yummy? Oh her blog it lists some great treats that are included...look!
* A "VC" rubber stamp- your choice
* A pack of blank cards/envelopes
* Bling bling embellishments
* Variety of ribbons
* 3D dots
* and more....

a new direction...or is it?

I just have to get this out of my head where it's been running around for a few weeks now.
So after much discussion, evaluation and prayer...hubby and I have decided to remain in our current home for a few more years before pursuing moving.

This home has some drawbacks to it. First of all there is no basement so I dread the tornado sirens. Secondly we have no dining room which makes entertaining challenging/impossible. And thirdly the bedrooms are right off the living room which makes it tough for the girls, particularly Bug, to fall asleep.

However there are also alot of great things about the place. It really has all the square footage we need for daily living. If we had a slightly better floor plan with the same square footage we'd be made in the shade. I love the big back yard.The location is perfect, not too far from hubby's work so he doesn't waste the entire evening driving in traffic. We have spend almost 7 years here and redone just about everything, so if we stay we can actually enjoy our hard work and not have to constantly be doing home improvement projects. Since we won't have major house projects we can spend more time as a family and get out camping.
A few minor projects we have on the agenda include, installing a stackable washer/dryer where the washer currently is. No more dryer in the garage! Also in this process we'll put in a pretty laundry tub/cabinet since it's the first thing you see when you come into our home. Hubby is going to build the pantry to go in the space next to the refrigerator, get rid of the unsightly shelf(ok, so it's not unsightly, but a pantry would look much better). We are expanding the garden this year which means more fresh veggies. I'd like to continue to improve the landscaping and get some grass seed down to thicken up the lawn for the girls to play in. We'll also replace the tub surround and either replace or refinish the tub. Hubby will build a vanity that is smaller to go in there. I'd like to paint it and replace the tile floor (as the previous owners did a horrible job of it). And then there's my favorite redo. The Studio! I think I may want to paint in there (hubby cringed when I told him). He is going to build me a nice work should be the next thing he builds. And then he is going to make me a huge armoire for all of my stuff! I am so pumped! It will be a while before it's all done, but I can't wait. Can you tell his hobby is woodworking? Love it!

A few more tags and million dollar muffins

Here are a few more backpack/diaper bag tags I made up. I love how these turned out. Everything but the colored brads is Stampin' Up! I just love the chicken from the Best of Cluck set. The colored brads are Making Memories IIRC.

My hubby likes to call these muffins "million dollar muffins" They are made with almond flour(which is $5.60/pound) due to me being on the SCD. But boy are they yummy! They are rich, have chopped pecans and raisins in them and are topped with a butter/cinnamon/honey topping.

I made this card for a baby shower. I really need to get a light box built so you can see true colors. "Celebrate" and the background paper are a celery green. The brads are yellow. I created the card shape using the Stampin' Up! top note die. I love the shape. On the white layer, I cut on the perforation the die leaves and then distressed the edge a bit to give it a perfectly matted look. I used Certainly Celery Ink for "celebrate" and the brads are Fire and Ice rhinestone brads.

The inside contains a quote printed off of my computer and then die cut with the top note Stampin' Up! die. Silver brads are on the left side.
I can't wait until the baby arrives, I already have plans for the card!
