hop in pink and green ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ and an announcement!

Both my cards this week are pink and green, and while I love these colors, I made each for a separate challenge.
The first card was made for the Unity in Pink and Green challenge. I paper pieced the image, cutting out each flower and gluing the center and curling the petals. I meant to put something (glitter? rhinestone? who knows?) in the centers of the flowers, but got distracted when Button woke up and forgot to get back to it. Ah the hazards of kids. I had the photo corners in my stash (clearance from Target) and colored them to match the pink cardstock. The twine was the finishing touch. This stamp was one I won at Hip Hop a couple weeks back. If you haven't checked out Hip Hop you must! So fun! Unity Stamps has super cute images, a fabulous KOTM (I haven't been able to sign up yet, so if anyone wants to sponsor a stamper and sign me up I'm all for it!). Check out their website or blog to see all their AMAZING sales this weekend.

The next card was made for the Ad Challenge (which was part of an impromptu crop over the weekend) on the A Walk Down Memory Lane forums. I chose to use the colors of the ad in my card. The butterfly was cut out of white cardstock using the Stampin' Up butterfly die for the Big Shot. The smaller butterfly was cut with the same die using a scrap of fabric. I added some rhinestones for the body of the butterfly. To create the background I wanted to duplicate the butterfly shape, and I had no good DP so I made a stencil using the butterfly die and splotched Versamark in it. The sentiment is from the August '08 KOTM from Unity Stamps. I stamped it, then punched it with the word window punch, and punched the ends of that with my 1/8 inch hole punch and threaded it on the twine.

Oh, and you wanna hear my news????? I get to be a guest designer for A Walk Down Memory Lane (AWDML) for the month of August!!!!!!! I am super excited! It will be my first DT position! YIPEE! I will be spotlighting one of their manufacturers products so stay tuned for that!

Paying it Forward

I came across this on Sarah's blog and thought it was a great idea.
Random acts of kindness have turned into little gifts for you. A great opportunity to get something handmade just for you and pay it forward. I would especially like the opportunity to create for people I've never met (but I'll make stuff for the people I love too!!)
The first five (5) people to respond to this post will get something made by me.This offer does have some restrictions and limitations so please read carefully:
1. I make no guarantees that you will like what I make. Whatcha get is whatcha get.
2. What I create will be just for you, with love.
3. It'll be done this year (2009).
4. I will not give you any clue what it's going to be. It will be something made in the real world and not something cyber. It may be weird or beautiful. Or it may be monstrous and annoying. Heck, I might bake something for you and mail it to you. Who knows? Not you, that's for sure!
5. I reserve the right to do something strange.
6. In return, all you need to do is post this text on your blog and make 5 things for the first 5 to respond to blog.
7. Send your mailing address - after I contact you.
IMPORTANT: This offer is null and void if I do not see you post your own blog to pay this forward.

HHH is sponsored by the number eight

I think my hubby is in for it. I have really taken a liking to making scrapbook pages in addition to making cards. What that means for him is that I have yet another hobby. The good news for him, however, is that many of the supplies are transferable between card making and scrapping.
I made this layout for our eighth anniversary an 8x8 size. I have kind of taken a fancy to this size for beginning my scrapping career. It's not too overwhelming like 12x12, and not too tiny like 6x6. It's just right. I used some Magnolia DP (My Minds Eye) and tried sewing it to the paper. I LOVE how it turned out and the detail it added. Be looking for more sewing on projects as I think it is my new favorite thing. I stamped "eight" using the Just My Type alphabet from Unity Stamps (do you think I've gushed enough about them? They are so great!). The sentiment came from the August '08 KOTM. I paper pieced the two colors of the sentiment together and popped it up a bit for visual interest. The scallop circle was cut from the DP and I added some orange glitter glue for texture.

If you want to see more great projects using Unity, click on over to the Unity Blog. There are lots of blogs listed all featuring Unity Stamps. Sign up for their KOTM and get a free Bevy of Butterflies kit...it's super cute! And this weekend you can get 30% off all orders!

I'm back!

Spending the day unpacking from our trip up north. We had a good time. Nice weather. Good Fishing. Glad to be back home although I could do without the chaos of cleaning and unpacking. We took Bug fishing on the dock, she enjoyed it some but got bored easily. We also went to Scamp to get our gray water tank fixed. Bug loved all the Scamps and kept saying we needed a new one (ours isn't even a year old).

It's a what? It's a hip, it's a hip, it's a hip hop hangover!

Bug likes to come into the studio with me, she was getting bored with sticking stickers on her "project" and at the end of the sticker roll was this cardboard tube piece. I asked if she wanted a bracelet. She did and chose the camper image from the August '08 KOTM(no surprise there~she loves our Scamp). I stamped it and colored it in with Sharpies. Then I covered it with crystal effects so it would last more than 10 minutes.

Bug modeling her bracelet.

I made this card for the Gettin' Krafty with Unity challenge. The challenge was to use Kraft colored cardstock. The stamps are also from the August '08 KOTM. Have I mentioned how much I LOVE this kit. Check it out at Unity Stamps. Their stamps are so cute and great for stamping, scrapping and other fun projects. Oh and there are always fantastic specials going on! You can see them on the Unity Blog.

Toodles for now! Have a great weekend!

Two for Tuesday

I thought I'd showcase a couple of cards I've made in the last few days. The first one is the card I made for Bugs birthday. To stick with the pink and green theme I had going, combined with the frog cake I made, I figured Hoppy 3rd Birthday was appropriate (that's what it says on the inside of the card). Princess Froggy (from the Stampin' Up! set Unfrogettable) was colored with my Stampin' Up! markers. I added a dot of glitter to the pink rhinestones on the tips of the crown. A little ric rac, a bit of bling and wah~la! A card fit for my (tomboy) Princess.

The second card being featured is my take on Sketch Challenge 231 over at Split Coast Stampers. The sentiment is from the August 'o8 KOTM by Unity Stamp Company. I used some designer paper I had in my scraps. The cardstock and brads are SU! and the twine I found in with my ribbon.

Almost Three

It's a rainy day here, I've been cleaning up and organizing around here. I had to make sure I got Bug's third birthday gear all set though. I made her the shirt and bandana pants and got a bandana for her hair too. It's going to probably be too chilly to wear them tomorrow which stinks, so I may just save the outfit for her pictures. I still have to make her card, wrap presents and frost the cake. We are going to grill hotdogs tomorrow if the rain holds off. We haven't gotten rain in quite a while and of course this weekend is the rainy one. At least the garden is happy about it.

Here is a close up of the shirt.

And the pants.

With a Hip Hop here and a Hip Hop Hangover!

HAPPY FRIDAY!!! It's once again time to showcase some projects I've completed using Unity Stamps. The images are super cute. And they have inspired me to create my first scrapbook page. There was a monochromatic challenge posted and this was my take on it. I love how it turned out. I showed it to hubby and he asked what I was going to do with it (since I don't scrapbook) and I said I'd have to make a scrapbook. Hopefully it can be my excuse to need more Unity Stamps. They have a great set called Confession that is on my wish list. Check out the Unity blog for some great sales they are having too!
And I just LOVE this picture of the girls, it is one of the best I have of the two of them.

This is take one on an 8th Anniversary card for hubby. It was created for a color challenge to use only red, white and black. I do have another idea which I was trying to get to work out but hit a mental block, so we shall see. This great stamp is called So + So Loves. There are numerous possibilities as to how to make it your own.

Have a great weekend!

A scavenger hunt

Jennifer is hosting a photo scavenger hunt for the LimeLight Paper Crafts first anniversary. She wanted to see
*a cat nap
*something yummy
*four
Here's what I found:

This represents "FOUR". The number of days the new window took to complete.

Here's a "CAT NAP" and snuggle with Grandpa B.

And what else would be considered "SOMETHING YUMMY" besides Million Dollar Muffins? Which reminds me I need to make some more!

Unity is having a call for a guest DT member!

Unity Stamps is having an open call for a guest design team member for the month of July. You can check it out fully on the Unity Blog. The challenge was to make a monochromatic card using stamps from their April or May KOTM. This stamp came out of the April kit. I love the trees and the little birdies. I decided to go with paper piecing to give the project a bit of depth. I added a few page pebbles, some ribbon and a hope charm too. I really love how it turned out. I also utilized the LimeLight sketch challenge seen here.
Can I just say how much I am loving challenges and using my embelishments and ribbon instead of hording it. It is so much fun and if I use it all, I can get more!
I found some blog candy too!

Some thrifty finds

Today I was browsing at the Goodwill and found some fun crafty items. I got a framed mirror that I will ditch the mirror on and paint the frame making a name frame instead. I got 2 canisters for my studio, not sure what will go in them, but they'd be fun to alter once I figure it out. I also found a 20 pack of tins that were sold as party favors that I will save to alter at some point. And then there is the fun piece of fabric, I think it'd make a great purse or bag. Wouldn't it look great paired with some lime fabric? I also got the girls a couple books and a purse for myself. I love thrifting!
I actually had some time to craft today so stay tuned for a project or 2 to pop up later in the week. And if you haven't seen it, check out the new June Kit of the Month (KOTM) from Unity Stamps! It's SUPER cute!
