a triple play!

**SIDE NOTE** Blogger appears to not be posting scheduled posts again. Check back tomorrow for a fun AWDML project! And if it doesn't post I'll fix it Monday when I return. Now to your regularly scheduled Friday blog! Happy HHH!
I made this card for 3 challenges. In no particular order it is for
*Etsy Inspired Challenge (EIC46). I found inspiration in this piece.
*Unity Stamps CHA Challenge.

I made this card for my hubby. The tree is from the Love Birds kit and the sentiment is from the August '08 KOTM by Unity Stamps. I embossed then colored in the tree with Martha Stewart Glitter. I used my Cutterbee tool to make holes for the faux stitching and used a blue glitter pen to complete the stitching.

I have been selected to join the Paper Maniac Design Team! Patti is going to open her store on September 1, 2009. And her future plans include opening a brick and mortar store in the Twin Cities! I am so honored and excited for this opportunity! Her store will be here. And the store blog is over here.

And just wanted to show off a card I made 12 of for a former co-worker to give out next year at graduation time. The colors are the school colors. "Reach for the Stars" is Whipper Snapper (stamped in silver Brilliance ink), "Congratulations" is Hero Arts (stamped in versamark). The star brads are from JoAnn and the punch is from Stampin' Up! (thanks for letting me use it Marcie!).

Some fun new toys!

So the hubby left this weekend with his buddy, so it was the girls and I all weekend. We went shopping! I got an awesome Martha Stewart glitter set (24 colors)! Be on the lookout for sparkly projects soon!

Some Distress Inks and Cut and Dry foam to do some fun projects. The Two Peas You Tube Videos are AWESOME (and will enable you). They have a series called "Thinking Inking" and show alot of techniques and products, I guarantee you will want them all!
I picked up a Quickutz Quickstik. It will come in handy for when I cut smaller letters with my Silhouette.

Speaking of the Silhouette, I am testing it out and hopefully will feature a project that I used it for soon. I also picked up a Fiskars Stamp Press that I am not sure I'll keep, but I think it'd work great for larger stamps. I love coupons, everything I bought I had a coupon for!
Hey! You! If you haven't checked out Paper Maniac, you should! Patti has the store Unity KOTM! Awesomeness!

Happy Hopping!

Happy Hip Hop! Can I just say I'm glad it's Friday! Have you seen the newest Halloween kit from Unity Stamps? It is so cute! I love the Halloween Tree! If you want to get it 10% off along with every other Unity Stamp, use the code CREATE when you check out through Sunday. All the past KOTM's are $35 through the weekend as well. Check out the Unity Blog for a complete list of HHH participating blogs!

The first card was made for the Dragon Fruit Salad challenge as a part of the Mini VSN last weekend over at splitcoaststampers. I also used sketch 237, also found on SCS. The image is from the August '08 KOTM from Unity Stamps. I embossed the image and colored with pink passion and pixie pink. I used my blender pen to make an in between shade too. I stamped the mini flower on some lime DP I had in my stash from Big Lots and used a Fiskars border punch. The ribbon was from the Target $1 spot. I just love how the colors pop together.

I made this for the Etsy Inspired Challenge EIC45 and Unity Is All About Shapes challenge. Let's just say the featured shop, The Daily Pincushion has tons of inspiration! I stamped the flower (eliminating the stem) from the August '08 KOTM on a circle I cut out using my Making Memories shape cutter. The I'm here for you sentiment is also from that kit. I colored the flowers using Cameo Coral and Blush Blossom. The faux stitching on the circle is done with Always Artichoke to match the base layer. I'm here for you is stamped in Always Artichoke and faux stitching is in Cameo Coral then popped up a bit off the page. I added some So Saffron DP to the background to tie it all together. For more information on the EIC, check out my girl Ashley's blog every Saturday to be Etsy Inspired.

A bit of Unity

Just a quick card I made for CAS24 over on splitcoaststampers. I used the cute tutorial I found on the A Walk Down Memory Lane design team blog for the flower. I added more flower layers from the boho blossoms punch from Stampin' Up! And added a glitter brad in the center (which I colored orange with a sharpie) to finish it off. I used the Just My Type alphabet from Unity Stamps for the "hi" and the flower stem came off of an image in the August '08 KOTM. I love clean and simple!

How to make clouds ~ and a studio update!

My first tutorial! Since I had a few comments here and on SCS about them, I thought I'd show how I made the clouds as shown on the snail card from {7/19}. . To start with gather a few circle punches. I used 1 1/4, 3/4 and 1/2 inch circles.

Punch one larger circle and 2-3 of each of the smaller sizes.

Glue the circles together to make a cloud shape.

Get your sponge and ink pad and go to town.

Wa~La! Clouds!

You will have to excuse the poor pics, my new over the desk light is not yet up...hopefully soon!

It's getting better in the studio, I think. Starting with under the window is a dresser that holds my knitting and some sewing supplies. On top sits my big shot, sewing machine #1, knitting basket, crafting magazines. Next to the dresser is a rolling cart with smaller paper punches and prepackaged card blanks. On top sits a basket of finished cards. On the floor is my purple bag I have to unpack and the tv tray Bug has been using to craft at.

Next you see the 3 shelves with bins. We took measurements while at Ikea and bought the bins. Hubby actually built the wooden cases. They house many supplies. My new Silhouette has a new home on top next to my cassette rack of ink pads. There is some chipboard on top in the glass Frap. bottles. My ATG also sits on top of the cassette rack. My Carl cutter is sitting under the cassette rack. I have ribbon and punches in a spice rack type holder that is meant to be attached to the back of a pantry door. I am going to be ditching it and getting curtain rods for my punches. Hubby also built my paper racks, I need more paper storage so that is on his list of things to do. My Scor-it sits between the Ikea cases and paper racks on the floor. My garbage cans are sitting in the middle of the room. Ha.

Here you can see my lovely desk space. Notice how I have the lamp in a pulled out drawer on the shelf. Yeah, that's no good. I can't wait for my new light. It will be mounted under the bottom shelf. My table will be replaced with a desk hubby is going to make. We got a tabletop on clearance a while back at Ikea, so he's going make some legs/drawers for it.

My typewriter ($1 at a garage sale!) sits under the table, along with sewing machine #2 and my serger. Some frequently used stuff is on the table, but I am planning on a rail system for the wall from Ikea to free up the table top. Misc. wood mounted stamps are in the 3 drawer unit on the left side of the bottom shelf. Scraps are in the right 3 drawer unit. Stampin' Up! stamps are above that. The photo boxes hold papers, adhesives, swaps. The top shelf has some more sewing stuff and papers in 2 large bins.

Someday it will all be done. Just in time to move probably! Thanks for looking! (you'll also notice I didn't show you the "office" side of things, that is under construction too, but is making progress).

Hip Diddly Hop Hangover!

Happy Friday! We are finally home for a while now. We've had a summer of travels, but I am ready to stay put and get some stuff done around here. See yesterday's post for the studio mess I am working on taming. I have made progress, but still have a ways to go. I did manage to sneak in the two Unity challenges yesterday. Hey, have I mentioned how much I {heart} Unity Stamps? The images are great, and so are all the Unity gals (and guys)! Be sure to check out the Unity blog for a great bunch of images on sale, with $2 shipping this weekend!
First up, the Unity Fab 5 challenge. The challenge was to use 5 embellishments. I used glitter, grass punch, 2 ribbons and a staple. I made a cloud by punching out circles of various sizes, gluing them together to look "cloud-like" and then sponged some blue ink around it. The snail is from the April '09 KOTM, "happiness" is a part of a stamp in the August '08 KOTM.

The second challenge was to use crinkled and inked cardstock. I crinkled some white CS, used 2 shades of blue and misted it a bit with water. I love the look of it. I paper pieced the flower, which is from the August '08 KOTM. I added some brads for the flower's centers and some twine at the top.

Have a great weekend!

What's happening in my world?

Well, first of all the Studio is a disaster. It looks like 5 tornadoes went through. I decided as I cleaned I'd rearrange a bit and purge. So the transformation is underway now.
Oh and I have to make room for my new Silhouette! It was 75% off at Archiver's. It's not the SD version, but it was 75% off. I am so giddy and it is giving me motivation to clean!
Next, I came across the Scripture Challenge on Patter's Blog. I am going to figure out what format I want to complete this in (6x6 or ATC) and then get it underway.

And lastly, a shout out! I purchased a Scor-It board a while back. It wasn't centering my scores like it should, so I contacted the company and they sent me a new one. (you can see below how the metal bar isn't lined up on the zero~makes all the measurements off). I was super impressed. I can't wait to use it!

Happy Thursday!

Back to Stamping! Happy HHH!

Happy Friday! Finally a stamping post. It's been too long! We had a really nice vacation last week and are getting back into our routine this week. I managed to find time for 3 cards this week. Can I just say (again) how much I love Unity Stamps and their KOTM's? They are so versatile and super cute! Oh and the whole store is on sale this weekend 30% off! Just check out the Unity Blog! I really wish I could be a member right now, but since I can't I revert back to my trusty August '08 KOTM. It is amazing to see the wide variety of projects this one kit can make.
I made this first card for the black and white background challenge. I love that butterfly!

The next challenge was to make a card that wasn't square. I made this little gift tag using the pillow die for the big shot and cut along the score lines. I colored this one with gel pens, punched a hole in the corner using the crop-o-dile and added some ribbon.

The third card was made for color challenge 225 on Splitcoaststampers. I really am loving the flowers. It's the first time they've seen ink and it defiantly won't be their last. The sentiment was punched with the large oval punch from Stampin' Up! and I cut the So Saffron oval by hand.

There are lots of participants today in HHH, all listed on the Unity Blog...check 'em out! And check out how I'm paying it forward, and you can too!
TeeHee and I got my goodies in the mail while I was on vacation from A Walk Down Memory Lane. Stay tuned for those projects!

Honoring those who Served

I took these two pictures at the 4th of July parade in Stephenson, MI. They really need no explanation.

Oh and in case you didn't notice, I have been gone on vacation. We enjoyed time at my families cabin in Upper Michigan along the Menominee River. It was our first extended family vacation with just the 4 of us, it was really nice and refreshing(we've either done shorter trips as a family or been with extended family for longer trips). We had fun playing outside, having campfires, going to town for doughnuts and just hanging out. Button started really walking alot there...there is alot of room to roam. We also visited with cousins and hubby had to do a little repair on the truck. Short version of the truck story, we smelled something hot and it turned out to be a cracked brake lining for the emergency brake.
